These late summer sunsets into moonrises are magical at Lake Tahoe. I have wanted to go back and visit them all year. I was grateful that I could witness this lovely evening. It inspired me.

This is the sketch that inspired the two studio pieces. It was a magical Tahoe sunset. These late summer moonrises are such a treat. Warm blues and vibrant golden yellows and olive greens. I was so grateful to capture this sketch and lovely evening.

I have been waiting a long time to capture this scene. Tahoe is a study in Blues, there are so many going on in a simple sunset. When a full moon appears in late summer it's magical.

These 12 Trees in Carnelian Bay have inspired so much of my work. This was an early summer sketch that I used for the large piece "Twelve Trees Summer". I love my "plein air" sketches. I have difficulty painting from photographs. So much of the essence of a landscape is captured when I go out plein air.

This is the first in the Twelve Trees series. Funny how I started with winter. The cold bare branches in the grip of winter. Icy grey blues dominate this scene.

This piece is a benchmark in my journey as an artist. I have had a vision of where I want to take my work for a long time. As an artist it’s always a battle between vision and reality. That push pull of what I want to do  and what I can do and what I actually do. It’s when the lines between get blurred that growth and accomplishment are one and a piece that’s above the rest comes to life. This is one of those pieces. "Twelve Trees Summer".
